Phra Dhammajayo not guilty and not subject to parachik.

Sangha Supreme Council (SSC) concludes Phra Dhammajayo not guilty and not subject to parachik (monastic offense resulting in expulsion).

Following investigation conducted by Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Director-General Pol. Col. Paisit Wongsemuang, indicated that the letter written by the late Supreme Patriarch His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, regarding allegations against Phrarajbhavanavisudh (Phra Dhammachayo, current monastic title Phrathepyanmahamuni), Abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, was legally binding. He made an inquiry to the National Office of Buddhism (NOB) and the Sangha Supreme Council (SSC) whether there had been any action taken regarding the proposal that the Abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya be defrocked for embezzling funds and land as suggested by said letter.

On February 10th, 2016, a meeting was held by the Sangha Supreme Council presided by Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamangkalajarn (Chuang Varapunyo) and attended by several senior monks. After more than three hours of deliberation the Sangha Supreme Council concluded unanimously that there were no violations as suggested by said letter. It was further determined that Phra Dhammachayo had not violated any monastic offense, and there was no ground for repulsion. All matters related to this case had been finalized and brought to conclusion at the Civil Court. There had been no appeals from anyone. The case was permanently closed.
